Specific discussion of Standardize 4 Safety and the recently adopted ISMP perioperative guidelines are highlighted by expert speakers, with suggested steps to prepare learners for practice-based adoption with implementation science strategies.

  1. Explain the Standardize 4 Safety Initiative, including barriers to its implementation. 

  2. Summarize the newly released ISMP Guidelines for Safe Medication Use in Perioperative and Procedural Settings. 

  3. Identify collaborative strategies for engaging the interprofessional team to reduce medication errors.
