In July and August 2018, we invited practitioners who administer intravenous (IV) push medications to adults to participate in a survey.1 The survey was conducted in response to three prior ISMP surveys that revealed numerous risky practices associated with the administration of IV push medications. These included the withdrawal of medications from prefilled syringes or cartridges, unnecessary dilution of IV push medications, and nurse preparation or manipulation of IV push medications at the bedside.
