Wykeem Parker BS, PharmD

2021-2022 FDA/ISMP Safe Medication Management Fellow

Wykeem has a background in the inpatient hospital setting, primarily practicing as a Unit-Based Clinical Pharmacist at Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he has gained valuable experience in the sterile compounding and perioperative settings. From staffing at multiple hospitals throughout the Philadelphia region, he has gained perspective by directly observing variations in pharmacy operations across health systems.

Wykeem brings a variety of experience ranging from small, long-term acute care facilities to large tertiary hospitals with over 750 beds. Some of his accomplishments include identifying errors that led to the revision of electronic order templates for Humate-P & Alphanate, drafting pharmacist training guides for leadership review, improving access to urgent care medication in the intensive care setting, and preparing documents that standardize infusion preparation to reduce variation and minimize errors. He is also proficient in operating various pharmacy workflow technologies, electronic health records and automated dispensing cabinet systems.

Wykeem is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and received both his BS in Biology and PharmD from Temple University. During pharmacy school, he studied under the medication safety track where he was introduced to the ISMP team. From there, he developed a passion for patient safety and continual quality improvement. Now as a FDA/ISMP Safe Medication Management Fellow, he intends to apply this knowledge of safe medication practices in a regulatory setting and serve as a healthcare consultant.
