Michael Freudiger PharmD, APh, BCPS, BCGP

Michael J. Freudiger, PharmD, APh, BCPS, BCSCP is clinical pharmacist, advanced practice pharmacist (APh), and Compounding and Regulatory Compliance Supervisor at Valley Children’s Healthcare and Saint Agnes Medical Center in California, USA. He is board certified as a pharmacotherapy specialist and board-certified sterile compounding pharmacist. He is also part of ASHP Consulting as an independent contractor consultant specializing in compounding and regulatory compliance.

Michael earned his PharmD from the University of the Pacific and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in Loma Linda, California, USA. He holds an adjunct faculty position at multiple pharmacy schools and guest faculty positions for delivering compounding education. Michael’s interest in the multifaceted area of sterile compounding compliance and implementation has led him to become an expert in areas such as regulatory compliance, risk assessment, clean room technology and design, and sterile compounded drug stability and safe drug administration.

He also assists compounding pharmacies with the development and maintenance of policies and procedures, master formulas, environmental sampling, staff education, hazardous drug risk assessments, quality assurance plans, gap analysis and mock surveys. He has been an invited speaker in the USA and internationally for lectures in USP <795>, <797>, <800>, compounding and medication safety, the art and science of sterile compounding (intravenous, ophthalmic, pediatric, chemotherapy), handling hazardous drugs, IV workflow systems and IV robotics.
