Kayla Cierniak PharmD, MS, BCPS
Kayla attended John Carroll University (Cleveland, OH) for her Bachelors and Master of Science in Biology during which she studied animal models of cardiomyopathy. In May 2016, she graduated from Ohio State University (Columbus, OH) with her PharmD. After graduation she completed her PGY1 residency at University Hospitals, Ahuja Medical Center (Beachwood, OH), a 100-bed acute care facility, during which she found her passion in medication safety. This passion was reflected in her residency projects which included design/evaluation of an interdisciplinary model for treatment of acute ischemic stroke in the emergency department and a process for improving bar coded medication scanning (BCMA) rates. Kayla’s hobbies include hula-hoop dancing, scuba diving, and improvisational comedy. Her goals are to use her scientific and creative talents to improve patient safety on a much larger scale through her time with FDA/ISMP.
