Emily B. Holcomb PharmD, MBA, BCPS, FISMP

Prior to her fellowship at ISMP, Emily served as the Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services and developed workflows and clinical services for a new electronic health record and automated dispensing cabinet transition at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Emily has worked in a variety of pharmacy management and clinical roles with the U.S. Army since 2014 in several hospital, clinic, and community settings.  A few highlights from her service include leading pharmacies through successful Joint Commission surveys, developing a pharmacy readiness program to identify and manage polypharmacy patients, championing the clinical and operational pharmacy response to the COVID19 pandemic at a Level II Trauma Center in 2020 and serving as front line pharmacist in the Whole of America COVID19 response in Riverside, CA in 2021.  She has prior work experience as a logistics officer in the U.S. Army, distribution manager for the McLane Company and Target Corporation, and financial and office manager for a small business organization.     

Her professional interests include project management to improve patient safety, optimizing pharmacy workflows, leadership, and integrating healthcare informatics and practical patient care.  During her fellowship Emily aims to further develop her understanding and application of safe medication practices to federal and military practices and protocols to improve patient care and Soldier readiness.

Emily is from Eugene, Oregon and earned a BS in Philosophy and Literature from the United States Military Academy, an MBA in Management from Amberton University and a PharmD from Pacific University Oregon.  She completed an ASHP PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS).  She continues to serve as a Pharmacy Officer in the United States Army.
