Continuing Education Credit for Nurses

ISMP offers nurses an opportunity to earn complimentary continuing education (CE) credits from reading the ISMP Medication Safety Alert! ® newsletters. Earn 1.0 CE credit after obtaining a passing score on each test that is completed.

Nurses can access and complete these activities for FREE. To earn CE, please read the associated publications (both the Acute Care Action Agenda, and the Nurse AdviseERR newsletter can be accessed for free), then complete the evaluation and pass (70% or greater) a 10-question post-test  prior to the expiration date. Access to this CE activity will expire 2 years after it's publication date. The CE material has been compiled by our editorial team, led by the senior manager of publications, Ann Shastay, RN, MSN, AOCN.

Continuing education (CE) activities are available for:

  • Reading the previous six issues of the ISMP Medication Safety Alert® Nurse AdviseERR newsletter

  • Reviewing the ISMP Medication Safety Alert! ® Action Agenda, Acute Care edition

Learning objectives for each CE activity include the following:

  1. Recognize potential risks that can lead to medication errors.

  2. Identify important safety strategies to prevent medication errors within their practice setting.
