Cheers Award Categories

Each year, ISMP presents awards to individuals and/or organizations who have exhibited exceptional efforts to improve patient outcomes and prevent patient harm related to medication use. All nominations may be considered for an ISMP Cheers Award or one of the other award categories listed below. 

Cheers Award

This award is given to an individual or organization who has demonstrated exemplary commitment to medication safety through an innovative and creative project, program, educational effort, and/or research. The recipient of this award can be nominated internally by ISMP Professional Staff or you. 

George DiDomizio Award

This award is given in memory of a late ISMP Trustee, and honors members of the pharmaceutical industry that have made important and lasting contributions to patient safety. This award can be given to a company or individual, who has been open and willing to share and design products to improve patient safety. The recipient of this award can be nominated internally by ISMP Professional Staff or you. 

Subscriber Award

This award is given to an organization that has shown evidence of utilizing ISMP materials within their practice: Newsletters, Action Agendas, Targeted Best Practices, Self Assessments, etc. The recipient of this award can be nominated internally by ISMP Professional Staff or you. 

Lifetime Achievement Award

This award is given in memory of the late ISMP Trustee David P. Vogel, RPh, and honors individuals who have made ongoing contributions to patient safety throughout their careers. The recipient of this award is nominated internally by ISMP Professional Staff. 

Volunteer Award

This award is given to an individual who has tirelessly volunteered their time and expertise to various ISMP projects over the years. This individual is eager to respond to our questions and is willing to take extra time to gather needed information. The recipient of this award is nominated internally by ISMP Professional Staff.
