PROGRAM OVERVIEW Our teleconference "Is CPOE Still the Right Thing to DO?" will be held on Wednesday June 29th at 1:30 pm EDT. The 90 minute program will be moderated by David Classen, MD, Vice President at First Consulting Group and associate professor of medicine at the University of Utah. Eric Pifer, MD, Chief Medical Informatics Officer at the University of Pennsylvania and a practicing internist will discuss his experience in his clinical/operations role for 2 hospital-wide CPOE projects. Terri Steinberg, MD, MBA will present her experience at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, in Wilmington, Delaware. Robert Begliomini, PharmD will present his experience at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network, in Allentown, PA.

• Understand the advantages of implementing a CPOE system in their organization.
• Identify barriers to implementing CPOE systems.
• Provide solutions to some of those barriers based on lessons learned.
• Highlight the influence of CPOE systems on medication errors.

Registration

• One telephone line connection is allowed per registration. Others may listen on this telephone line via an internal extension, or a speakerphone may be used for larger groups.
• You may not set up conferencing capabilities for other sites outside the facility. Each specific site may be used for larger groups. Each specific site must register individually.
• We cannot accept registrations without an email address and the name of a contact person.
• Registration for this teleconference will end at midnight ET on 6/28/2005.
• CDs will be available for purchase after the teleconference.

Cancellations

• Cancellations must be requested via an email message to our teleconference department.
• Cancellations received before the start (1:30 pm ET) of the teleconference will receive a full refund or credit.
• Cancellations received after the start (1:30 pm ET) of the teleconference and within 3 business days after the teleconference will be assessed a cancellation fee of $50.00.
• If your organization does not cancel within 3 business days after the date of the teleconference and does not participate, the full registration fee will be charged.

Materials

• If your organization's registered participant does not receive the teleconference materials that are sent out approximately 2 days before the teleconference via email, please send an email message to our billing department prior to the start of the teleconference.
  
• When registering, please be sure to provide the email address of the person to whom ISMP should send these materials.
