TELECONFERENCE
Gaining Physician Compliance to Your Patient Safety InitiativesRegistration for the teleconference has expired.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Today, more than ever, it is critical for healthcare systems to gain physician compliance to their patient safety initiatives. While most healthcare systems rely on the well-established tool of enforcement, this tool is expensive, antagonistic and often not very successful. To be successful, organizations must explore how to win and encourage, not just enforce, compliance. While there are many barriers to physician compliance with patient safety goals [clash of culture, clinical inertia, time issues, physician perception of compliance with goals], physician champions can help healthcare organizations overcome these barriers. These champions must have clinical credibility, communication skills, and a positive attitude that is contagious among other traits. By addressing the above processes, key patient safety goals, such as elimination of dangerous abbreviations, medication reconciliation, and appropriate use of safe verbal/telephone orders, can be achieved |
