PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This session will discuss the revised Medication Management standards for hospitals starting July 2006, and the 2006 and 2007 National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs), as well as other new standards that affect medication use. In addition, medication-related standards and NPSG requirements that have given hospitals difficulty in 2005-2006 will be discussed, along with strategies for better compliance with them. Lastly, changes in the new unannounced survey process will be presented along with tips on how to best prepare for it the visit. |

OBJECTIVES
Following completion of this teleconference, participants should be able to:
- medication related standards in terms of non-compliance by organizations surveyed in 2005, and the most common reason why each was scored non-compliant.
- Cite the four revised medication management standards, and how their requirements have been revised for July 2006.
- Describe how USP Chapter 797 will be surveyed in 2006 and 2007
- List the 2006 medication-related National Patient Safety Goals requirements.
- Describe the specific changes that will occur in the new unannounced JCAHO survey process and how to prepare for them.

Registration
- One telephone line connection is allowed per registration.

Cancellations
- Cancellations must be requested via an email message to our teleconference department.
- Cancellations received before the start (1:30 pm ET)
of the teleconference will receive a full refund or credit.
- Cancellations received after the start (1:30 pm ET)
of the teleconference and within 3 business days after the
teleconference will be assessed a cancellation fee of $50.00.
- If your organization does not cancel within 3
business days after the date of the teleconference and does
not participate, the full registration fee will be charged.
Materials

receive the teleconference materials that are sent out approximately
2 days before the teleconference via email, please send
an email message to our billing department prior to the start of the teleconference.
- When registering, please be sure to provide the email address of the person to whom ISMP should send these materials.
