Medication safety Specialist
The Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) is opening a full time position for a pharmacist or nurse with at least 5 years of clinical and managerial experience to join its respected consulting group. This individual will lead risk assessments in healthcare organizations throughout the country, as well as participate in collaboratives and educational programming.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Strong clinical practice skills
- Experience in the use of BPOC, eMAR, CPOE, and other medication-related technology
- Excellent writing/editing skills and public speaking experience
- Ability to lead an interdisciplinary consulting team
- Effective communication skills with a wide variety of individuals--frontline staff as well as senior administration, regulatory, industry, and consumers
- Ability to travel
- Demonstrated understanding of the system-based causes of error and knowledge of shared accountability
- Active participation in professional networks and groups in the patient safety and/or healthcare community
- Recent publication experience and/or project work in patient safety
- Ability to relocate to ISMP’s offices in Horsham, PA
Applicants should have a pharmacy or nursing degree as well as a graduate degree (MSN or MS) and interest in lifelong learning and professional development is highly desirable, as is a risk management or patient safety background.
