ISMP is a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) MedWatch Partner. ISMP reviews all FDA MedWatch reports which contain information about medication errors. As a MedWatch partner, ISMP also promotes FDA’s initiatives to reduce adverse drug reactions.

ISMP's is a member of the National Coordinating
Council on Medication Error Reporting and Prevention (NCC MERP).
Membership on the council is held by major national professional
and lay organizations as well as state and federal regulatory
authorities and the USP.
The USP-ISMP Medication Errors Reporting Program (MERP) is operated by the USP in
cooperation with the ISMP. ISMP analyzes and publishes recommendations on prevention for all medication error reports received through the reporting program.
