Welcome to the ISMP Medication Safety Alert! Nurse Advise-ERR, a medication safety newsletter designed specifically to meet the needs of nurses who transcribe medication orders, administer medications, and monitor the effects of medications on patients. This monthly, two-four page newsletter will be offered FREE in 2012 to acute care hospitals, behavioral health facilities, community health clinics, surgical centers, and birthing centers, and to faculty at academic settings thanks to restricted grants from Baxter Healthcare and BD. Those who work in other settings can still purchase an individual subscription for $15 or a reduced-rate organizational subscription for $50. Regular features include detailed anonymous accounts of reported errors, checklists of evidence-based error reduction strategies, and short 'safety wires' that offer quick tips regarding safe medication practices. Free CEUs are available in July and January.
All current subscribers need to re-register to continue receiving the publication in 2012, otherwise your subscription will end in December 31, 2011.

For details, visit: www.ismp.org/educational/webinars.asp.
- Unique 2-day program: Attend ISMP’s Medication Safety INTENSIVE workshop, a one-of-a-kind, interactive program that will teach you how to approach medication safety “through the eyes of ISMP.” Sharpen your risk assessment and event investigation skills, and learn more about human errors, Just Culture, Lean Six Sigma, high-leverage error-reduction strategies, and more. The next workshop will be held in Boston on June 21 and 22. For details, visit: www.ismp.org/educational/MSI.
ISMP Nurse Advise-ERR is distributed monthly via email as an Adobe PDF file . It is our goal to reach as many front-line nurses as possible, and as such would like to email the newsletter to a designated nursing representative in each hospital or health facility. These representatives will be responsible for distributing the newsletter to front-line nurses in their own facility. Suggested distribution methods include combinations of the following: posting on an internal intranet, distribution of reproduced hard copies, posting in critical areas where nurses work, and so on. If you would like to accept responsibility for distribution of ISMP Nurse Advise-ERR at your facility, please click on the link above to register. Individuals are also welcome to subscribe. Thanks for your interest in medication safety!
